SAO PAULO (AP) — The death toll from an ongoing raid in Sao Paulo state has climbed to 14, as law enforcement agents sought to strike at the people they blame for killing an elite squad officer last week. The sprawling operation has raised questions about the use of lethal force by police.Sao Paulo Gov. CHICAGO -- Three men have been transported to a local hospital after being shot on the South Side Tuesday night.According to the Chicago Police Department, officers responded to the 1300 block of South Springfield Avenue in the Lawndale neighborhood just after 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday.CPD reports that all three men hospitalized were shot in the leg. Two men, 31 and 32-years-old, were transported to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, but a 33-year-old man remains in critical condition.No arrests have been made at this time. (KTXL) -- A semi-truck carrying 40,000 pounds of chocolate went up in flames on Monday morning in Northern California's Placer County, according to CAL FIRE Nevada-Yuba-Placer. BASTROP, Texas (KXAN) — First responders said they're working Tuesday afternoon to evacuate homes as a "precautionary measure" because of a wildfire burning near Bastrop State Park. A 13-year-old girl from the Fargo-Moorhead area was pronounced dead after her body was found in Lake Julia near Bemidji following a search on Sunday evening.According to a release from Beltrami County Chief Deputy Jarrett Walton, at 5:02 p.m. Sunday, dispatchers received a report of a missing 13-year-old girl who had been swimming in Lake Julia, approximately 10 miles north of Bemidji.Law enforcement learned that the girl was from the Fargo-Moorhead area but was in the area visiting friends, the release said. A 31-year-old woman who was being taken to jail for several outstanding arrest warrants had to be rushed to the hospital after she became unresponsive in the back of a patrol car, authorities announced Tuesday. The incident occurred on July 20, at around 7:50 p.m. after a deputy with the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, who was patrolling the Victor Valley Transit Authority, was flagged down by an employee at a nearby retail store who alleged that the woman had possibly stolen something from the shop, according to a news release from the sheriff’s department.
