LOUIS COUNTY, Mo. - An effort to help seniors on fixed incomes stay in their homes through a program to freeze real estate taxes.This legislation stems not only from increasing real estate taxes but also from a bill signed by Missouri Governor Mike Parson last week.Senate Bill 190 creates a program to freeze real estate taxes for anyone old enough to be eligible for Social Security benefits. Members of the Committee of the Whole got a chance to delve into Bill 114 Tuesday afternoon. Council members said they would like to hold the bill, do more research, and find a more sustainable solution.Bill 114 allows seniors in St. Louis County to access this benefit and remain in their homes. ST. LOUIS – Two men were wounded in a shooting Tuesday afternoon along a popular corridor in south St. Louis.According to a spokesperson for the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department, the shooting occurred just after 4 p.m. in the 5300 block of Hampton Avenue.One victim was shot in the eye and right shoulder. ST. LOUIS - An investigation is underway after a pizza delivery driver was robbed Monday afternoon in south St. Louis. The robbery happened around 4 p.m. Monday in the 4400 block of Pennsylvania Avenue in the Mt. Pleasant neighborhood. Illinois man charged with sharing sex video of former St. Louis County official Investigators say the victim, a 46-year-old man, was fulfilling a delivery to the location. When he arrived, he called a number listed with the order. Two suspects then approached him. One held him at gunpoint while the other stole the pizzas. Police did not report any other items stolen or any significant injuries. The suspects, both believed to be around 18-20 years old, reportedly took off with the pizza in a late-model gray Jeep Grand Cherokee. ST. LOUIS - Safety improvements are coming to Page Boulevard in the City of St. Louis. A suspect has been arrested in connection with the killing of a man who was found inside a charred vehicle in Thermal nearly three years ago, the Riverside County Sheriff's Department announced Tuesday.The victim was discovered after firefighters extinguished a vehicle fire near the intersection of Pierce Street and Airport Boulevard on July 18, 2020.The case was deemed a homicide by the Riverside County Coroner’s Office.Authorities were able to identify the victim ten days later using dental records as 23-year-old Luis Pinedo of Mecca.Following a yearslong investigation, detectives identified the suspect as 34-year-old Ruben Esquivel of Coachella, who was already in custody for an unrelated homicide, officials said.Esquivel was charged with murder, arson and the use of a gun in the commission of a felony.No further details about the case were released.Looking to beat the SoCal heat?
